If you've come to this site, then you must already know that my name is Savannah, and that I'm an actor. This is the part where you find a brief history on the how, where, and whys of my career.
Originally, I hail from Las Vegas, Nevada- the place my family has called home for a few generations. Having moved at age 10, I spent the formative part of my childhood in San Antonio, Texas. I truly never know what to say when someone asks where I'm "from". San Vegas... Las Antonio... Texvada? Who knows.
Like most artists, I have always had an affinity toward creativity. I could always be found making music, singing, putting on choreographed dances or playing in make-believe worlds with my siblings, indulging in crafts. You name it, I adored it.
Moving to Texas as a kid, however, took this natural inclination and hurled it into an immovable requisite for my life's satisfaction. The south takes many things seriously: hospitality, barbecue, football, and- as it turns out- both music and theater. My parents had already fostered my vocal skills from a very young age through lessons. In Texas, this led to intense choral programs that later introduced me to the world of acting on the stage. It is a sensation that all performers through time have experienced: to "catch the bug". And catch it I did.
After my first year of acting classes, plays, and musicals, it became jarringly clear that my long-standing plan to become a scientist was null and void at an instant. To pursue anything other than acting would be to abandon the unshakable, indescribable feeling of a true calling.
Despite coming from a family of scientists, they have always been 'renaissance people', so to speak, and their influence shaped me in an undeniable way. My grandparents, with whom I spent much of my upbringing, are shining examples: a physicist grandfather and an archeologist grandmother who both acted in theater, indulged in photography, drawing, painting, instruments and music, the ballet, and all things creative. They were folks who raised their children (and grandchildren) making intricate papier-mâché costumes and putting on plays of their own in the backyard, then taking them on an archeological dig the next day. Think The Sound of Music meets The Magic School Bus. How lucky were we? My mother's side was no different in their encouragement toward performance, art, and expression. It was deeply understood, as a whole, the important role that art plays in the nourishment of ones soul- and for that, I am beyond rich.
With the unwavering trust of my loved ones to back it, I pursued and completed my Bachelor of Arts in Theater, as an acting major, at The University of Northern Colorado. It was there in Greeley that I greatly expanded on my acting skills through wonderful, knowledgeable professors and their acutely detailed program. Among the many plays I had the great blessing of performing in, it was in college that I found my affinity for rock music, began playing guitar, and writing songs of my own. I formed a band (just for fun) and found myself a cozy spot in the amiable music community there. Other notable indulgences during my time at UNCo include having been the president of the campus Shakespeare club and a member of the resident sketch comedy group.
I truly had a wonderful time earning my degree, but was an unfortunate graduate of the class of 2020. The tail end of my senior year was cut off by COVID-19, and I was thrust into true adulthood a few months sooner than expected. The pandemic kept me in Colorado, while I moved slightly further north to Fort Collins- a more fresh-aired and lively city that was closer to friends and the aforementioned rock scene. I stayed for two years more while acting locally, making more tunes, and saving money for the big move to Los Angeles.
In the fall of 2022, I completed that move. Today, I am an acting member of The Group Repertory Theater in North Hollywood. My goal and definition of success is to be a greater and more transformative actor with each audition, project, and passing day.
